Provisional Members
A member’s first six months are considered a Provisional period. Provisional members are invited to join Junior Auxiliary in the fall, with obligations starting for the following Junior Auxiliary Active year in the months of April and May. The Provisional period is spent attending meetings, touring projects, working on Gala, learning how Junior Auxiliary works, and completing special Provisional projects. Provisional members may not vote or hold office but are encouraged to participate and provide suggestions. Financially, Provisional members are responsible for dues. Provisional members must attend four out of six meetings and complete 10 hours of service within the six month period. At the end of the Provisional period, the board reviews each Provisional member to assess if they have completed their requirements for Active membership and votes to admit Provisional members into Active membership.

Active Members
A member who has completed all requirements of the Provisional period and has been voted into membership by the board is considered an Active member. Active members are required to fulfill all obligations for five years of service. Active members (with exception of some holding offices) are required each year to complete a minimum of 30 hours of service, complete a minimum of 12 education hours, to include chapter meeting attendance, and complete a minimum of 10 finance hours. Active members have the right to vote, hold office, and are responsible for carrying out the activities of the chapter.

Associate & Life Members
After five years of Active membership, good standing members may choose an Associate membership or a Life membership. An Associate member is one who continues to pay dues to the association for a period of 10 years after their active service has ended. They do not have the right to vote, hold office, or propose new candidates. A Life member is one who has completed their 10 years of Associate membership or has paid the equivalent of 10 years of dues.

Becoming A Member
Membership to Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs is open to women of at least 25 years of age who live or work in the service area. Members complete five years of charitable service while in Junior Auxiliary, with a minimum of 30 service hours per year, 12 educational hours per year, and 10 finance hours per year. The Provisional period is six months, while the next five years are Active years. After fulfilling five years of service, Active members may choose to become a Life or Associate member. Being a member of Junior Auxiliary requires a high level of commitment, dedication, and above all else, a heart of service.
